The opening of the Typhoon

His Royal Highness, the Prince Consort opened the Typhoon on 14 April 2006.

Under great festivities with Aarhus Marching Girls, Pierrot, Tivoli Friheden’s two mascots (Mrs. Frog and Mr. Rabbit) H.R.H. The Prince Consort opened the new ride, the Typhoon.

H.R.H. The Prince Consort, Henrik Olesen, Managing Director of Tivoli Friheden, K.R. Bendixen and Knud Roding took the first ride on the Typhoon.

The grand fireworks displayed when the ride started with H.R.H. The Prince Consort affected, however, the safety systems of the Typhoon stopping the carts. H.R.H. The Prince Consort’s cart was undramatically escorted to the platform.

Even though the ride did not proceed quite as expected the spirits of the guests on board and the other guests were high. Asked by the press about the ride H.R.H. The Prince Consort replied with a smile that  ”perhaps it was a little long”.

After the grand opening of the Typhoon H.R.H. The Prince Consort tried another rollercoaster, the Hurricane, followed by a reception at Tivoli Friheden’s beautiful Restaurant Terrassen.

Tivoli Friheden regrets the temporary stopage for H.R.H. The Prince Consort and his attendants and the visitors. However, it should be noted that the Typhoon proceeded without any problems afterwards.
